Thomas Spence of Lamb Close Netherdale Thomas Spence of Lamb Close Netherdale was the second son of Jonathan and Ann Spence [1] . He joined his older sister Elizabeth, who was just two years his senior [2] . By the time he was seventeen, in 1744 his youngest brother Joseph was born [3] . Joseph joined Thomas and nineteen year old Elizabeth, ten year old Abraham, eight year old Ann, and two year old John [4] . Thomaswas the first to leave home and he married Ann Ellis in 1750 in Middlesmoor [5] . Ann Ellis was the daughter of Robert Ellis of Sidgesworth in Netherdale [6] . However, within four years of marriage he had lost his two youngest siblings, Ann and Joseph [7] . Thomas's
brother Abraham Spence married Faith Umbleby in 1763, and his sister
Elizabeth married a George Umbleby in 1765

. No connection between these Umblebys
has yet been found.His brother John was the last to marry in 1771

present it is unknown where Thomas Spence of Lamb Close died.

Ann Ellis married Thomas Spence on 8 May 1750.

[6] Mary Spence was born on 12 February 1785 and christened on 6 March 1785, in Bolton Abbey the daughter of John Spence of Barden labourer son of Thomas Spence of Lamb Close of Netherdale by Ann daughter of Robert Ellis of Sidgesworth, Netherdale, labourer, and Ellen daughter of Frances Ward of Barden miner by Agnes daughter of Thomas Spence of Lamb Close Netherdale. Joseph Spence was buried on 11 March
1753. Ann Spence was buried on 22 October 1754. Middlesmoor.
